Changes

... some spiritual shit for ya.

"I see no changes. All I see is racist faces. Misplaced hate makes disgrace for races we under. I wonder what it takes to make this one better place... let's erase the wasted. Take the evil out the people, they'll be acting right. 'Cause mo' black than white is smokin' crack tonight. And only time we chill is when we kill each other. It takes skill to be real, time to heal each other. And although it seems heaven sent, we ain't ready to see a black President, uhh." ...

"We gotta make a change... It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes. Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live and let's change the way we treat each other. You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do what we gotta do, to survive. And still I see no changes. Can't a brother get a little peace? There's war on the streets & the war in the Middle East. Instead of war on poverty, they got a war on drugs so the police can bother me. And I ain't never did a crime I ain't have to do. But now I'm back with the facts givin' 'em back to you. Don't let 'em jack you up, back you up, crack you up and pimp smack you up. You gotta learn to hold ya own. They get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone. But tell the cops they can't touch this. I don't trust this, when they try to rush I bust this. That's the sound of my tune. You say it ain't cool, but mama didn't raise no fool."
- Tupac, "Changes" (1998)

I was listening to the radio late last night and I heard Tupac's "Changes". It's eerie how the same shit that Tupac preached on is going on today in 2008. A fucking decade later! I'm no peace activist nor am I going to front and say that I'm an expert in world politics. But I do believe that the things going on in the world are fucked up right now.
Ex. After going out one night this week, my buddy was ranting about Obama and how he's going to vote for him. He was asking random people who they planned on voting for at Jack, which was partly funny. He asked this one white guy, and he totally gave him the dirtiest look and told him to fuck off, because he's "republican." Now how ignorant is that shit.
To not only have a possible first black president, but also a possible first female president is insane if not God given. It shows us that our country is in need of some drastic change and I for one, am all for it.

What I say isn't worth jack shit. It won't change world events, it won't cure poverty, it basically won't do anything. The way I see it, the only way we can have an affect, like how Pac said, is if we change how we treat each other. Now I got fed this shit since the 1st grade, which went on for 12 straight years of Catholic school. Now all those things I thought were a load of bull, is beginning to take some significance.

Take things for what they are and do what you will. Just like every other college kid, a lot of issues in life stress me out: women, school, money, etc. But like what my basketball coach used to say, "Save yo drama fo' yo mama." If you got beef some fool, just drop it. Got girl/boy issues, drop it. Got no money, get a job.

Now, I only got love for everyone I encounter in life, unless they are undeserving. Even then, I'll make an effort to give them a benefit of the doubt. I think the term RESPECT has been desensitized now-a-days. I've met a handful of people, some pretty recent, that exemplify this. I treat them with the utmost respect and sincerity and in return, I get the cold shoulder. I've encountered guys who spit at women. I've met people who flick people off for no reason. Now, I bet you a million bucks that these very same people feel that they are "respectful" individuals. Such bullshit.

I'm just sick of witnessing all this shit, not only in the world, but in my everyday life.
Ex. Those Christian activists who preach their mouths off holding up signs on ringroad. One guy was holding up a sign that read "FEAR GOD," and shouting statements like, "How could anyone be happy? with a Penis inside their assholes?!"... wtf is that?? It's shit like what these socially inadequate, inconsiderate, illogical people are promoting that only add to the ignorance and trouble the world is facing.

I may not make a difference in a worldwide stand point. But I will try to treat others with the respect they deserve. And I hope that people do the same.
